it wouldnt be unusual for me to have intense rectal pain after passing a bm, but it’s usually nothing compared the the pain before such a bm. on another note, when i had some ibs-like symptoms for a while i would get crampy pain after passing a bm. i guess maybe you should accentuate the other times in your doc’s mind if "that’s not possible" is the attitude you’re getting… i hope it stops. nadia. – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text –     Just out of interest – Is there anybody at all out there who has abdominal pain after a bm?  I have been told "there no absolutely no disease process that would cause pain after" – it would be nice to know if there are others, of if I am reall, and truly the only one .. I also have pain after bowel movements. It is as if I had too much of a work out or too much activity going through the bowel. Ow. hurts to think about it. Flipper

Well, if that is true, I am in BIG trouble.  I have ALWAYS had pain after going to the bathroom.  It seems like my inestine muscles are still spasming after a bm.  I usually have pain for several minutes, on a normal day, and up to an hour or more during my flare days.  I don’t know who told you that this is not possible, but they are the ones full of sh**.  In my opinion.  Hope you are feeling better. Does it feel like you are having a charlie horse in you rectum and anus? This is what I get. Whenever I have tried to explain it to anyone they look at me as if I am crazy. It has lasted up to 1/2 hour for me and during that time I am in agony. Maryjo, Yes, that’s what it feels like for me too!  Afterwards I sometimes have tenderness, if my flare is really bad.  But the worst thing is that I’m exausted afterwards–I feel like I’ve been put through a wringer. Vikki ~~The Dragon Lady~~ "…if you fail to plan, you plan to fail…"

I get mine even whe I only go once a day or two days – they are like a getting a kick in the gut (very, very similar to strong contractions, only instead of lasting 60 seconds, it can last up to 6 hours!), rather than crampy *d* ones. I had this before my surgery.  When in surgery they found my colon was twisted twice and abcessed(*sp).
