susan, you have a bellybutton?  damn, mine’s nothing more than a scar and a slit now. :( Lauren! (take out the "nojunk" to reply) beer drinking, sax playing, baseball junkie on a rampage … beware!

If I was in your shoes FC, I would give that fine surgeon a fine "BS."  It is your body, you are the patient, and all final decisions are yours to make;  the surgical team is there to accommodate you as best they can.  Fourteen years ago I pissed of a urologist (mine is a uro) royally  by specifying how I wanted things done, but in the end I won.  And the surgeon is ethically bound to do your bidding or refuse to accept the case.  Case closed…Make your decisions and lay them out for the surgeon. And good luck on the forthcoming procedure. — PcolaPhil Thanks to modern medicine we are no longer forced to endure prolonged pain, disease, discomfort and wealth.                                                                 –  –Robert Orben "Fcattus" <fcat…@aol.com> wrote in message

I have my ileostomy around the same spot.  It’s a good location and hasn’t got in the way of anything.  Corrina "bch m8" <dc…@webtv.net> wrote in message

I am a 57 year old male who has had an ostomy for 4 years.  I am considering having my second peristomal hernia repaired.   While I am ok with the function of the stoma and appliances, the current location about 2 inches below my navel and about an inch from the midline of my body is less than ideal from a clothing perspective.  I am considering a location about 3 inches above my navel and about 4 inches to the left of the midline.  I would appreciate input on this type of a location as well as any current information on current state of the art hernia repair before I meet with the surgeon.  Posted Via Usenet.com Premium Usenet Newsgroup Services ———————————————————-     ** SPEED ** RETENTION ** COMPLETION ** ANONYMITY ** ———————————————————-                         http://www.usenet.com

Be sure to look into the mesh-type of repair.  It is the best, IMO.   Earl (U) – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text -nancy and bill wrote: > I am a 57 year old male who has had an ostomy for 4 years.  I am considering > having my second peristomal hernia repaired.   While I am ok with the > function of the stoma and appliances, the current location about 2 inches > below my navel and about an inch from the midline of my body is less than > ideal from a clothing perspective.  I am considering a location about 3 > inches above my navel and about 4 inches to the left of the midline.  I > would appreciate input on this type of a location as well as any current > information on current state of the art hernia repair before I meet with the > surgeon. >  Posted Via Usenet.com Premium Usenet Newsgroup Services > ———————————————————- >     ** SPEED ** RETENTION ** COMPLETION ** ANONYMITY ** > ———————————————————- >                 http://www.usenet.com

Could you please give me details on the periostomal hernia. I think I might have one. I spent last noc in the ER with abdominal pain. I have cellulitis of my abdomen, too, but there is a large hard painful area under and surrounding my ileostomy. Could that be a hernia? When I have output coming through, it burns, too. Any thoughts or ideas?  I’ve had the ostomy since ‘94. THANK YOU!
