Question:

Talked to my sister in law the other day….we were talking about me going to New Orleans for surgery…..anyway she is big on being a mom and having kids…and stated that she had had endo almost 20 yrs ago….tho now she is cured….and then she put her foot in her mouth….she said that the reason I have Endo is because I havent had kids yet (Im 37)  delayed childbearing and all that nonsense…..I wanted to shoot her (of course Im always wanting to shoot her we dont really get along, but at least this time i had a REAL good reason LOL) Anyway I then asked her to explain all the teenagers I have gotten to know on the boards that have Endo, and the young mothers that have Endo…… Well I feel better now LOL :) Just sad that we have to educate EVERYONE!!!! Hi Laurie! I have the same problems with members of my family.  One that really made me GGGGRRRRRRR is my father’s girlfriend.  I explained very thoroughly what endo was and a week later I heard her telling other members of the family that I was just having painful periods…  We should make a new kit called "Please listen and understand what endo is". Hi Hon,    I don’t know how you kept from shooting her!!!  LOL!!!    The ignorance never ends, does it?  At least you set her straight!!!  I am always having to do this with my ma, she thinks a hyst is a cure, no matter how many times I tell her it isn’t and that I have ‘talked’ to too many women that had one and still have major problems!!  And since I am trying to decide whether to have one or not, her and my oldest sis keep telling me it is inevitable and to just do it!!  GRRRRRRR!!!!  I keep plugging along at them, still.  Very sad we have to educate so many!!!!!! Hi Laurie, Tell her that I got pregnant with my one and only child when I was 19. Was that delayed?? I was finally diagnosed with endo 15 years later. Go figure. Hugs, Birgit http://members.aol.com/GittiO/home.html

Laurie;             Way to go! I had to educate my family as well; sometimes they just don’t understand.. The one good thing I can find about having Endo, is that my Mom and I are talking to each other again; we didn’t get along for about a year, but that’s over and done with, thank God..   :o )              She had 4 kids and STILL had it..              Hope you’re feeling betterand having a great Easter!!                                                                       Sylvia

Well you all know that my first surgery for abdominal pain was when I was 14, then I had pregnancies at ages 19, 20, and 22 and ended up with two beautiful children by the time I was 23. I am happy and content with my decision to have my children as young as possible, and I am content with the two children that we do have. One surgery since I had my last child, another coming up, so I guess that I am proof, too, that endo is not caused by delayed child bearing.  Guess I should have gotten pregnant before my first period at age 12–that is when the pain started!! LOL!!! Love hugs and kisses, Jenny P
