Question:

We still don’t have a physician treating my wifes pain.  We spent the weekend with her alternating between trying to cope with pain, writhing in pain and passing out from pain.  I spent the weekend caring for out 1 year old and trying to keep my wife out of the emergency room; all the while in a great deal of pain myself.  I have some of the same conditions she has, only not as bad. I hurt myself picking her up at one point, when she passed out from the pain while in a position that would have hurt her to stay in.  She took her last demerol last night to get some sleep and nobody will treat her yet.  I have no idea what we will do tonight for her pain when it goes up in the evening.  I really have no idea. And the doctors offices are so slow.  They just don’t seem to understand how critical it is that people be seen rapidly.

She just got an appointment at a local pain clinic.  I hope that they do something useful.

The pain clinic is trying to push back her appointment by two weeks. They have no idea what that means.  The only pain medication she has been able to get from any of her doctors is something that she is allergic too.  She is allergic to Codein and she has been prescribed HYDROCODONE/APAP 7.5 mg/750 mg. She has way too many allergy problems to be taking something she is allergic to.  Every time she takes it, it causes her a great deal of abdominal pain. So, she can either be in total horrific agony from pain, or take a pill and double up in pain.  It is allowing her to sleep a little but it is not allowing her to eat.
