If it doesn’t cause you any stall problems or anything, you might want to get something made with maltitol.  Carbolite Chocolate (2 of the 1 oz bars-no more than 2 effective grams each) or Pure De-lite (2 of the 1.1 oz bars-about 1.1 effective grams each) should do the trick…I know it does for me!

I take one tablespoon in the AM, and one in the PM at a meal. I drink a large glass (30oz ish) with each. This keeps me quite regular without the squirts. When I first relized I needed it, I took three tablespoons over the course of a day, did this for one day. It worked like a champ. Keep up with your water, 1-2 Tbs a day (lotts of water w/ each dose), and you should be good to go. — 355/320/300 – 250 Atkins Induction 7/28/2002

 So, reluctantly, I say at this stage, take an Exlax or Ducolox to get over the problem.

BISACODYL  (ducolax)  is one of the worst laxatives on the GI system. if necessary stick with MILK OF MAGNESIA tablets or liquid.  (as directed)

Oh please,  tell me you’re taking those psyllium husks with a *very big* glass of water.  Else all the fiber in them will simply ball up and exacerbate the problem! Also, the first time I got constitpated it was so far gone I had to go the drugstore to get some Ducolox.  I could only recommend something like that for an extended problem as you seem to have.  So, reluctantly, I say at this stage, take an Exlax or Ducolox to get over the problem.  Don’t at all like the chemmical approach, as it’s very crude and should *never* be used on a regular basis.  Doctors also can prescribe for exteme blockages. Prevention is key.  The trick is the *every single day* eat in a healthy way to not let that happen.  Even at the most basic phase of your program — like Atkins Induction — make sure you get those 2 cups of veggie and at least 1 cup of cooked veggie. Fiber!  Then, take psyllium husks every day like you would your multivitamin!  More fiber!  And of course, put your fats — lot of them — on everything (olive oil, butter, mayonnaise etc.) And, need I mention the importance of drinking a couple of liters of water every day? P.SAnd go real easy on cheese, as in addition to having carbs that can mount up, it’s also notoriously binding!

1 tablespoon should be enough and I’d expect an effect any day now. So long as you are not having painful elimination, I wouldn’t worry about being ‘regular’.  Low carb means less waste to get rid of, so you won’t go as often.

Are you drinking lots of water?  Fiber absorbs water and if you don’t get enough, you can make your problem worse.  You can try eating a few pieces of malitol sweetened sf candy if you’d rather.
