Plaquenil inj.
Question:
Hi Group I am now taking Plaquenil, Motrin and Celebrex. This combination is causing nausea and bowel problems. I think it’s the Plaquenil? Does anyone know of Plaquenil injections?? Thanks Bob A. —

I take Plaquenil and have for years with no problems. Recently my RD tried to get me to take Celebrex and _that_ stuff made me sick. Got off it after just a few days, but I’m still suffering the aftereffects. Kellann;o)

check the alt.support.lupus group – maybe someone there has an answer as many of us are on Plaquenil. I personally have only taken tablets. Hi Group I am now taking Plaquenil, Motrin and Celebrex. Response:
Bob, I am on celebrex and plaquinil, too. I experience stomach discomfort off and on. the only thing that seems to help me is a fiber or digestive product, like fibercon or something else with digestive enzymes. Funny, I thought it was the celebrex! Good luck! Heather

Heather, I am with you. While on celebrex the abdominal pain was awful. I was told Vioxx is not as bad. Did not want another try. LOL Marge Marge

I take plaquenil without stomach problems. I couldn’t tolerate Celebrex because of horrible cramping and diarrhea. I was told that I should not take any ibuprofen based products (like Motrin) while taking Celebrex, that I should only take Tylenol in addition to the Celebrex. Anybody else? Also, the generic brand of plaquenil supposedly causes more GI distress than the name brand. You might try switching to namebrand and see if that helps also. Susie

I would doubt that the plaquenil is causing your problems. I would question the two NSAIDs though. Motrin can cause problems on its own, but in combination with celebrex that effect could be exascerbated. We have had people on this ng mention that celebrex has caused abdominal problems. I have never heard of an injectible form of plaquenil, and I have been in this drug since 1970. Rose
