Question:

All, Can anyone tell me if other things besides Crohns can cause small bowel swelling? The results of my wireless enteroscopy showed mild swelling in three areas of my small bowel (it must be damn mild because the results of my small bowel series said possible swelling at the upper limit of normal in _one_ area), and various docs who looked at the X-rays thought it all looked normal. One step closer to having Crohns. :( Douglas.

Infections. I haven’t heard of anything else, but I’m hoping there is – I’m in your boat. I have intense pain and inflammation at the terminal ilieum, but so far no diagnosis.

I’m not trying to make light of your situation, but fortunately I don’t have intense pain. Abdominal pain has always been mild….. and its been getting slowly better over the last few months. Took a noticable jump towards better as well, when I finished a course of flagyl. Darn thing is still there though. :( Maybe it was giardia or something and it will take some time to heal…. its been 6 weeks though… hmm and swelling in three different spots doesn’t sound like giardia to me. :( Hmmm. Have you investigated the possibility of having the wireless enteroscopy? (camera pill you swallow). Douglas.
