I’m so sorry, it’s such a disappointment when you think you are finally going to have a respite. You know, if you don’t quite feel that your condition merits going to an emergency room but you are really worried, you can call one of the various helplines associated with HMO’s and hospitals and ask them if you should come in or not. I did that when I was bleeding very heavily — in the middle of a science fiction convention, too — and while it was not the most satisfactory conversation in the world, I did find it comforting that the nurse I talked to did not say, "Get yourself in here this minute and don’t drive yourself," something that has happened to friends of mine (not with heavy bleeding, but with chest pains and severe abdominal pain). >I’m still waiting for the results of my blood tests and for the >authorization to have my ultra sound. Hi Marcia – no-one should have to face this alone, that’s just not fair! Have you found this support page? I don’t know how good they are but it might be worth a try. http://www.wdxcyber.com/support.htm And Hi Group – this is my first post, i’ve been lurking (listening and learning) for a while… Janice >Marcia Rovins <mrov…@earthlink.net> writes: >>I’m still waiting for the results of my blood tests and for the >>authorization to have my ultra sound. Marcia, There are a couple of things I’ve done when experiencing heavy bleeding that -seemed- to help, but might have just been coincidental: (1) Sometimes inserting two super tampons at once almost seems to provide the pressure necessary to slow down a bleed. I don’t know if this -really- contributed to the diminished bleeding, but it’s helped me more than once, but only if I’m sitting/lying down. If I’m trying to shop or do housework, etc., the bleed seems to just go on in spite of this. (2) Pack an ice bag (or use a flat "cool pack" thingy like you freeze for a cooler), and lie down with your lower stomach resting flat on said ice bag. Again, it may just be coincidence, but these two things have helped me more than once, and they’re certainly not high-risk things to try…. I’ll be around for most of the weekend (except for several hours tomorrow when I’m going to Grand Forks for a little shopping and "Hannibal"). I, too, have called the emergency room when I thought I’d just quietly bleed out in my sleep, only to be told by the doctor to just take 3 ibuprofen every 4 hours. (Yes, he really told me to take that many. So I do.) If you feel like e-mailing me, go right ahead. Marilee

Thanks again for all of your responses. I’ve been pretty bad this morning, and since I realized this is a holiday weekend, I’ve been on the phone all morning. I actually talked to the doctor (by accident, she happened to pick up the phone) and got the usual answer…I can’t do anything for you until you have your tests. I was on hold forever for her front office person to find out if my insurance approval was still "Pending." I finally hung up and called my insurance directly. After being on hold forever, I was given the name of a lab which turned out to be the wrong one…they only do blood work, not ultra sound. I called back and finally talked to a different person, female this time. She gave me the name of a couple of labs and a hospital, one of which never answered the phone, and the other doesn’t do that kind of test. I finally got referred by a hospital to a lab in my neighborhood that can do the test on Monday afternoon. The lady there said they do this all the time, and she didn’t say drop everything and come right over…which I guess is good news and bad news. Anyway, I’m going to try to get through this weekend with all of your help. Thanks yet again… Marcia – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text -Marilee wrote: > Marcia Rovins <mrov…@earthlink.net> wrote in message > news:[email protected]… > > I really thought I’d end up in the emergency room tonight. Scared, maybe, but not alone. We’re here. And it *will* get better. The way I look at it, Floods are evidence that God is *not* a woman. No sister would do this to us. Keeping my fingers crossed for you (which explains all typos). Chakolate

I really thought I’d end up in the emergency room tonight. I’ve had 2 really good days, aside from one monster clot that showed up last night. In fact, I was down to a regular tampon and mini pad. Suddenly, at 8:00, I started bleeding heavily again. I put in a super plus and bled through it in literally 3 minutes…liquid and not a clot. I went back and sat on the toilet for almost an hour just letting it all drain. Finally, it slowed down enough that I put in one of those ultra OB’s. I just wish they were easier to insert. I got the kind with an applicator, but it’s very flimsy cardboard. Anyway, I laid down for a half hour to watch Will & Grace, and it seems to have slowed down a bit again. That was a little too scary for me. I’m still really weak from all the blood I’ve been losing, but I surely thought after 2 pretty easy days, I was going in the right direction. I’m still waiting for the results of my blood tests and for the authorization to have my ultra sound. It looks like I’m going to face another weekend alone and scared… Marcia

Thank you, Gwen. I appreciate that. I didn’t know I should be drinking water, but I will… Marcia
