Newbies with kidney pain
Question:
I would at least call your doc. There is so much hype about this WOE destroying kidneys….although I debunk 99% of it….it is definately better to be safe than sorry. My kidneys are actually better now than ever before. I still have occasional "kidney pain". My doc said it could be just that my kidneys are working harder now with all the water I am offering them. But the Dr. should be able to denote the onset of any glitches with a simple UA. Love, Peace and Protein~ Franca 245/228/160 ~LC since November 2, 1999

Hi, My husband and I have been low-carbing for about a week now, basically following the PP diet. In spite of drinking gallons of water, we are both experiencing some kidney pain. We are taking potassium supplements and neither of us has had kidney problems in the past. We are also feeling quite fatigued, which we had thought would be gone by now. We’ve checked FAQs and previous messages as much as we could, and have been unable to find references to kidney pain. Any thoughts? Thanks, Sarah and Neil Poese

I can understand your concerns, but how do you know it’s kidney pain? Internal organs are pretty hard to differentiate regarding different abdominal sensations. Are you sure? If you have a specific pain that persists, you should probably check with your doctor. My doctor told me that if your kidneys are normal to start with, this WOE isn’t going to hurt you. good luck Trixie 239218150 or so

by kidney pain, are you referring to a pain in your lower left back? if so, you might consider whether lc has constipated you. sometimes constipation can have that effect. but the best advice is still to see your doctor if you don’t get some soon relief. — Richard in Texas LC since 8/2/99 202/170/140 As God is my witness, I shall never go hungry again! ~Scarlett O’Hara
