Hello, I am particularly prone to UTI’s.  I have not had one since I have been LC-ing.  Also, a kidney infection (upper UTI) is different than a lower UTI. An infection in the urethra and bladder could ascend to the kidneys, but it would have to be a particularly aggressive organism, or you would have to be very tolerable to the lower UTI pain to allow it to advance to the kidneys. Usually, if the infection is that severe, one would seek medical treatment before it got too terrible. (I think that i remember you saying that you had, right?)  And, like Ian said, try the potassium, cuz it could be a muscular thing you are feeling in your back.  As long as you are truly drinking plenty of water, and dont have a preexisting renal problem, you should be fine. You could get a urinary infection, but not because of the diet.   It’s also possible that you could get lower back pain from weight redistribution changing your center of balance in the way you stand and walk, or from new athetic shoes after wearing worn shoes or heels. —                 "There’s a seeker born every minute."
