Hi Barb Sounds like you’;ve found someone good, and I am very happy that he is commencing you on treatment even though you have no clear diagnosis as yet. Sometimes validating our "unwellness" and getting some treatment for symptoms is far more important than finding exactly which long name to tattoo on our forehead! Hi Barb I think your rheumy is on the right track.  He probably was referring to MCTD which is a mixed connective tissue disease.  KCat has a good site on that one.  I was first diagnosed with that as well, then evolved to be more lupus than anything. the medications you are on should indeed help you.  IF you just started the plaq, I have not heard that is causes headaches, but you never know. It will though, take awhile to get into your system to help you.  some see results in as early as 5=6 weeks. ONE thing to do though, is make sure you call an opthamologist and get your eyes examined right away.  Ask them for a plaquenil exam and that you need it asap.  Did your doctor mention that?  It is a must and then repeated every 6 months to a year, depending on your eye doc. The kidney pain maybe just due to inflammation so let’s keep a positive attitude that all will be well with the 24 hour urine.  I may just be swelling. Hi Barb, It sounds like the doctor was thorough. He also seems to be keeping an open mind. He is not likely to miss anything that way. You are in good hands. The pred could make a big difference.
