Toradol (Ketorolac Tromethamine) is a anti inflammatory and non steroidal drug. Toradol has been licensed for short-term use to treat moderate to severe pain. Toradol should only be used for up to five days for adults and only once taken for children. Toradol is commonly used to treat pain after most medical procedures but is primarily used for kidney stones and back pains. It is sometimes used to help treat a cancer patients pain. Toradol is manufactured by Roche Pharmaceuticals.

When Toradol is mixed with other narcotics, such as morphine, it will take less Morphine to help bring pain relief. In simple terms, with Morphine and Toradol mixed together, less morphine would be needed. Toradol has been looked at as a pain reliever aid to other narcotics. Pain relief from Toradol has a usual onset of thirty minutes after the drug is administered. But this goes based upon the route of administration as well. The maximum effects occur within a two to three hour range and will last for about six hours afterwards.

Toradol comes in many forms. There are Toradol tablets but can also be administered through a IV injection. It is suggested to have something in your stomach like milk or solid foods. Take the medication as prescribed. Do not double your dose or stop taking the medication. The effects would no longer work after doing so. Doses of the medication is based on several different factors of the patient. Age, Weight, and types of medications you may take can help determine the dosage of Toradol to be administered. Do not adjust your medication until your health care provider suggests so.

Like most medications, there can be side effects when using Toradol. Usually the side effects are minor and may require a little to no attention from your health care provider. There has been cases of severe side effects but have been treated. Some side effects may be headache, abdominal pain, nausea, swelling, dizziness, and drowsiness. Some people can suffer from an allergic reaction after being give Toradol or any Ketorolac type drug. Some of the other severe symptoms could be kidney failure, stomach and/or intestinal problems, liver damage, and excessive tiredness. Before you start taking Toradol, let your doctor know if you suffer from any of the following: Asthma, Diabetes, Liver Disease or failure, Kidney disease or failure, bleeding problems, Congestive Heart Failure, Seizures, Nasal Polyps, and any allergies to NSAID medications. Also let your health care provider know if you drink, smoke tobacco, are breast feeding, or had any type of heart surgeries.
