Question:
Hi Bev, That is a good plan. I think things like this are part of the reason that health costs are so high. The worst part is that you have someone who is ill driving all that way for nothing. I have had that happen. I am a placid person, but have reacted badly to that sort of thing. BJ-shivering in SK. "Beverley" <pottings…@sybercom.net> wrote in message

Hi Bruce, That is so frustrating. It is maddening when you waste time and energy that way. Will your doctor just phone you with results now? I hope you are not feeling too ill. BJ-SK—YUK, it’s cold. "rothnie browning" <browningandskenewordsmi…@rogers.com> wrote in message

I think we all tend to say "Just fine". After all who really wants to hear us whine and complain? My husband was being very kind tonight asked if I was okay. I told him not really but nothing serious. Kind of hard to explain what is wrong sometimes anyway. Bev "BJ" <B…@sk.nojunk.ca> wrote in message

Hi Beverley, You are right about that. I figure the time to say something is when you need to go to emergency. My husband always says he needs to know, but I don’t think that is true most of the time. Hope you are "just fine". Well, reasonably okay at least. Hi J, It is funny, but I don’t like to unload even here. It isn’t that I don’t think the group would understand. I have always been a comforter to friends and family. It isn’t because I can’t admit it to him. I think it is more because I can’t admit it to myself. I cover up a lot of things about my health. Why do I do that? Sounds like you’ve had a horrible time. Sure hope the meds are now helping the situation. > I have moved to doing laundry now. Gee, my husband is right. > I do talk in riddles and jump from one subject to another. Oh well, you are > likely getting used to me too.
Actually you’re much more verbose this week. That’s good. It helps to unload at times. > I just feel the need to clean things up and > get my dogs looking nice. Maybe I’m pregnant and it is the nesting instinct > kicking in. Man, that would be a medical miracle.
Well since you brought this up (guys can stop reading at this point), it’s been discovered, in recent years that males have cycles. In additon, many women I speak too have detected symptoms that continue beyond "the cycling years". One of the things we had in common is that the week before cycles we’d be more depressed and also be doing the "busy-busy" thing. Like jobs we’d ignored for months or weeks. So my current theory is that, beyond the cycling years, our brains are programmed monthly to continue these habits and that there are still subtle changes which occur monthly. What do ya think about this theory? Hope you’re sleeping (now) and recuperating from all that work. J

Geez, I know all about neuralgia! Several horrible bouts of it and I do hope I never have it again. I’ve had (and forgive my spelling here) trigeminal neuralgia and glosophringal neuralgia. That means it attacks the nerves on face I think it’s the 1, 5, and 12 nerve sets. Like I say I’m not very good with the medical stuff. It shoots from the jaw socket area or rather slightly behind over the one eye and down the nose, across the cheek and under the lower jaw bone – runs right to the midline and stops dead. So strange I know where my midline is!!! And also attacks the tongue and down the back of my throat all on the one side. The most horrible pain I have ever withstood. My doctor at the time told me more suicides are committed over neuralgia pain than any other medical problem! I can not talk or anything when one of these bouts occur. I live on liquid food taken through a coffee stirrer slipped between the check and teeth on the other side of the mouth and hope it doesn’t slip to the bad side of my mouth triggering the most intense pain. They talked about killing the nerves on that side of my face and told me it drop my face like I had had a stroke. I can’t say I was cured but I have acupuncture done. It was done by a trained person from Korea but not licensed to practice in USA.- so it was very illegal but I wasn’t charged. Because the pain did not lessen at the time – it was thought it wasn’t working and he wouldn’t treat me more. Also at the time my husband decided that I was so tense with pain that I was fighting myself. I said I had to relax but I couldn’t – it was impossible. So one night when it was so bad he called the doctor for me and as I wrote he told the doctor on the phone what was happening. The doctor told me to take several Xanax tablets I had as one super high dose. And continue to take them normally, if I needed them. Well, I slept the rest of the night almost straight through and when I felt the neuralgia flaring during the day I took another Xanax. Relief!!!! Now, I’ve had several neuralgia (what I refer to as buzzing) sensations but never another bout of full neuralgia attacks. So the question is – did the acupuncture work and that is what has kept me from having another bad flare or did it just go away on it’s own? I will say I am much more prone to having a problem with the neuralgia when I’m under heavy stress. But mine has been so bad I can’t imagine cleaning the house – I don’t want to move any part of my body. Bev "BJ" <B…@sk.nojunk.ca> wrote in message

Hi J, Well, my old girl (13) is bathed, dried and groomed. I do them in the bathtub. They are Golden Retrievers so not the right size for the shower. I don’t think the underbelly could be rinsed properly that way, even if they could fit in there. Nerve pain is different from any other kind. If you have a nerve in your shoulder that is bothering you it helps to get a glimpse of what happens to me. It may be hard to believe, but this is true. Every part of my body was assalted by that pain. Now you know why I say I would rather check out now, than go through that again. It lasts over several months. I said to my husband that I wouldn’t let an animal suffer that way and yet nobody offered me anything that would allow me to sleep even for a 15minute period. It was a nightmare. As usual, you have wowed me with websites. That is interesting. I have moved to doing laundry now. Gee, my husband is right. I do talk in riddles and jump from one subject to another. Oh well, you are likely getting used to me too. I just feel the need to clean things up and get my dogs looking nice. Maybe I’m pregnant and it is the nesting instinct kicking in. Man, that would be a medical miracle. Take care. BJ "J Wootton" <jwoot…@rogers.com> wrote in message

Hello BJ, I was worried about you. That neuralgia sounds nasty. So glad you were feeling somewhat better yesterday. I know what you mean, moving as a distraction. I imagine the break from the computer helps a bit too? My version of scrubbing floors is using a wet mop. Do you actually get down on your knees and scrub from area to area? My friend does. She says it’s not clean unless she does. Those days are long gone for me, except for specific spot control. Knees hurt (amongst other things). I’m sorry you’ve been having such a rough time. As to me, as of yesterday, I still couldn’t sleep on my left side (w/o moaning from the pain the whole time). The injection site is getting better but still painful. Some of the other pains (neck and spine) seemed better yesterday, but since we had a slight warming yesterday, not sure if that was the reason or if the injection is finally kicking in. Hope it’s the latter. Good to see you. Don’t be overdoing there. But it’s a great feeling of accomplishment to have clean floors eh? Response:
Hi J, I do scrub along the baseboard and resort to a mop for the rest. My dogs made foot prints on the floor already. I always say that I want them to have a clean floor on which to shed, drool, and make paw marks. That is a price I pay for companionship. I have had three knee surgeries, so kneeling is painful for me too. It is nothing like neuralgia though. Even my teeth hurt when I have that. I swear that my hair hurts when I have it in my scalp. It did inspire me to talk to my doc about pain management though. He came in on my case in the middle of my last flare. The rheumy was not receptive to our pleas for pain meds. This doctor has put a plan in place should I go through the same thing again. He wrote it in my file. I am not talking about joint, bone, and muscle pain, which is bad enough in itself. I am talking about the neuralogical stuff. The neuropathic pain is enough to make suicide seem like the only way out. He is more than willing to give me morphine to get me through it. He said that if I ever feel that he is not understanding anything I am trying to discuss with him; I should tell him that he isn’t hearing me. He said I could tell him anything. I was nervous about the discussion. I thought he may say that he would start with something like Demerol, which is like taking an aspirin when it comes to pain like that. I must have described it well enough because he didn’t hesitate about going to the big guns. It is reassuring for me. I fell confident that with all of the suppressing drugs and my changes in life style that I can avoid another major flare. It is good to know that there is a plan just in case things go bad. The CNS stuff is so hard. I get brain dead when it flares. I wouldn’t remember how to make coffee, can’t form thoughts and I am at a loss to explain to the rheumy what is happening. See what happens when you ask a question. I get verbal diarrhea and you can’t shut me up. I was thinking about your shoulder. Whenever I have cort injections it seems worse for at least two days. The doc always says to rest the joint. The pain seems to magically disappear after a few days. Maybe it is just taking a little longer for you too. It is mild here too. We have had record breaking high temps. I want to bath my old dog today. It would be nice to have clean dog hair dust bunnies rolling across my clean floor. I do feel good when I accomplish something big. I feel like I then have a reason to feel tired. I think a lot of my feelings of self worth come from what I can do in a day. Not a good attitude for a lupie I guess. I can get really down on myself if I waste the whole day resting. Sometimes I wish we lived in the city where there would be far less work to do. Man, I am on a tangent. Button it BJ. Hope you have a good day. BJ "J Wootton" <jwoot…@rogers.com> wrote in message
