laparoscopy
Question:
I had my lap on a Monday and felt fine that night. I woke up on Tuesday in misery. How you feel after a lap depends on what they find and how much they have to do to fix it. I had severe endo (wrapped around everything–cervix, bowels, intestines, etc.) and I had multiple incisions. Some hurt and some didn’t. If the doc doesn’t find much, you may feel great right away. If he finds a lot of stuff going on and it is necessary to be very invasive with treatment, you will need a little more recovery time.

Could anyone give me any info about laparoscopic surgery? I know they go in through the belly button and then put in cardon dioxide to
Sometimes they also make 2 smaller incisions above your pubic hair. manuever the instrument around to check for endo, look at the tubes, etc. Anything else I need to know? How long does it take to recover? If I have it on Friday can I be back at work on Monday?
I had my surgery on Friday and came back to work on Wednesday. You might have shoulder pain if all the CO2 is not removed. The anaesthesia sometimes causes dizziness as it did with me. hence my late recovery. – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – Thanks for any advice or info. Melissa

My only problem was shoulder pain. When my dr. told me about having shoulder pain I thought "Oh well, a little shoulder pain, big deal". Well it was BAADD! I suggest you start drinking prune juice 24 hours after the surgery to help you with bowel movement. I hear that helps a lot to get rid off the carbon dioxide in your body. Good luck. – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – I had mine on a Friday and was back to work on Tuesday (long weekend). Monday might have been pushing it, but would probably have been doable. The only issue here is the anesthesia — there isn’t much else to recover from. naomi — Naomi Zikmund-Fisher Spring Hill Elementary Learning Support Teacher Pittsburgh, PA "When I feel like my world is falling apart, I look up at the sky and somehow feel comforted in seeing that it is still there." – Hannah Senesh

Melissa – I had my lap on Thursday and was back to work on Monday but I didn’t have any complications, and they didn’t fix or remove anything. I was very suprised how easy if turned out to be (I’m a big chicken). Best of luck! – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – Could anyone give me any info about laparoscopic surgery? Check out http://www.pinelandpress.com/support/itests.html#lap1 for different people’s experiences with laps. The ONNA home page at http://www.thought-crimes.com/onna/ also has a section on lap & hsg experiences. In my case, I had the surgery on Friday and went back to work on Tuesday. I probably could have gone back to work on Monday, but I didn’t see any reason to push myself. I laid around the house most of the weekend and didn’t feel too great, but Monday I was feeling better & did go out to eat. By Tuesday I was pretty much fine, though I still had some soreness in the abdominal area for the rest of the week. — Alison D.
