Question:
Do you know where they will attach this Holter monitor thing? I know the leads go on my chest but what about the box itself?
I wore one for a couple of days about 5 years ago. The leads connect to a small box that goes into a cloth holster with a shoulder strap. Chances are no events will occur while you are wearing it. It’s like your car not making the funny noise when you take it to the mechanic. Plenty of things besides the heart can cause shoulder pain. I hope it is nothing dangerous and that it is something you can treat effectively.

That’s what my doctor likened it to (the mechanic thing). But apparently the technology is such now that if I feel something arrythmic I can push a button and it will "mark" that for more close examination. Of course it won’t happen when I’m wearing it. LOL Jill

I’m trying to figure out what to wear and even though I have some loose clothing it’s not so loose that it won’t be evident there’s a box taped to my chest if that’s what they are going to do! It didn’t occur to me to ask when they scheduled me to come in tomorrow and they were closed today. My shoulder pain is lessened but that is probably due to the lidocaine patches I’ve been cutting up and putting on it. But now the "tingle" is going even further down my arm. This is all very disconcerting. Jill — I used to have a handle on life…but it broke off. Yep, shoulder harness with a body strap as I recall. A real bitch to sleep with. LOL It’s a bitch to sleep with this nagging pain anyway! I’ll be taking valerian root tonight for sure. And maybe I’ll go pour a glass of wine… Jill
*Every* night I take: 3 valerian root capsules (herbal for sleep), 1 melatonin (herbal for sleep), 2 Tylenol PMs (OTC for pain and sleep), 2 Zanaflex (prescription muscle relaxers), 2 Sudapheds (OTC for sinus), and 1 Ambien (prescription sleep aid). And I’m lucky if I sleep a solid 4 hours!!!! Fibromyalgia is *so* much fun! Hugs, CatNipped

Good lord, Lori! I’d never wake up in the morning if I did that. {{{{{{{PURRRS}}}}}}} I can’t take Melatonin unless I absolutely have no reason to get up the next morning. It leaves me so groggy I can’t function. Ditto Tylenol (or any other) "PM" over-the-counter analgesic or just plain OTC sleep aid. Ambien worked for me but they rarely have it in "samples" and I can’t afford it from the pharmacy. Valerian usually works; I might have to make it 3 caps instead of 2 tonight. The chamomile tea Tweed sent also helps me relax, but I don’t drink tea every night. I’ll have to search out another box in a month or so, though. I love the taste. And it can also be used in a hot bath as a soothing herbal

Wherever convenient — on a shoulder strap, belt clip, or even in a large enough pocket. I’m trying to figure out what to wear and even though I have some loose clothing it’s not so loose that it won’t be evident there’s a box taped to my chest if that’s what they are going to do!
No, the box itself doesn’t go on the chest. The leads are 3-4 feet long, so you are quite flexible in where you put it. It didn’t occur to me to ask when they scheduled me to come in tomorrow and they were closed today.
Change your picture a little. The box doesn’t go on your chest, just five or so electrodes (depending on the monitor). If it’s of modern manufacture, the box is about the size and weight of a CD player. I’ve usually taken the long strap, put it around my neck, and ran it under a sweatshirt or the like, letting it hang at the waist. Some monitors also come with a belt clip, which, if you have shoulder pain, might be a better idea for you. – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – My shoulder pain is lessened but that is probably due to the lidocaine patches I’ve been cutting up and putting on it. I haven’t ever worn one of these monitors, but, if I remember correctly, they come with a shoulder strap. — PGP key available from http://pgp.mit.edu "Reserve your right to think, for even to think wrongly is better than not to think at all." — Hypatia of Alexandria

That would be good! I looked for info online but all I can find are descriptions of how it works, not how you "wear" it
Thanks, John. Jill
